It is the first new school of architecture in Canada to be launched in over 40 years, and the first outside of the province of Québec to offer French programming.
LaurentianArchitectureLaurentienne, or LAL, is located in the heart of Sudbury’s downtown, approximately 10 minutes away from the University’s main campus. It is situated within a central hub of bustling activity and a cultural melting pot in the city’s core.
The new facility is, in itself, a unique learning environment for long-term building performance and sustainability in northern climates. Its construction is occurring in tandem with the expanding curriculum and will incorporate spaces designed to enhance the cultural and spiritual experience of students. The first phase of the new school was completed in 2013 and the final phase of the development will be complete by 2015. Learn more about the new facility HERE.
As the School’s first cohort of 70 students was welcomed in the September of this year, this charter class will set the pace for the School’s full complement of 400. These 400 students will represent the 4-year undergraduate and 2-year graduate levels of the program (6 years in total) as Laurentian’s Master’s of Architecture program launches in the Fall of 2017. Have a look at the program and admission requirements HERE.
